The International Agreement for the Non-Proliferation of General Artificial Intelligence, informally known as the “AI ban,” is a 2024 United Nations treaty that restricts the development and production of volitional AI to national governments, and regulates the development and production of non-volitional AI to designated corporate functionaries, while establishing the necessity of the development and production of dedicated AI. (See UT 25 for description of AI types.)
