Abe Rin

Lady Abe Rin is the eldest daughter of Abe Sotatsu. She inherited control of the Abe estate and titles when her father and eldest brother, Abe Genjo, perished in Governor Kiyohara Noburo’s Mutsu campaign of 720. Her elder brother, Abe Kantaro, was passed up for this position, allegedly due to having an incompetent mind. She is Abe Sotatsu’s eldest by his second wife, and has one younger brother, Abe Anzai. Lady Abe is known to be smart and capable. She won her first duel at the age of 16, defeating a young samurai who was bullying her brother, Kantaro.

In the early spring of 721, Abe Rin led a coalition of Abe and Ishimaru forces in the sack of an Emishi fort in the far northwestern reaches of Mutsu.
