Troubleshooters are field agents for Department 23. Troubleshooters work for IAM, often receiving orders and mission imperatives directly from IAM

Mission

The Computer assigns Troubleshooters several duties:

1. Serve IAM.

2. Locate and eliminate traitors, including (but not limited to) Communists, secret society saboteurs and terrorists, unregistered mutants, data pirates, weapons manufacturers, renegade cloners, mad scientists, violent revolutionaries, and dangerous cultists.

3. Investigate and eradicate corruption. (This may mean your friends and neighbors and even colleagues!)

4. Remove dangers to the good order and smooth operation of The City.

Salary and Benefits

Starting salary for a Troubleshooter is $5600/month. Health benefits include comprehensive medical and dental coverage. Additional benefits include government-sponsored lethal weapons license, access to Civil Uniform Records Division (CURD) and Civil Uniform Transportation Services (CUTS), and pre-approval to install personal home security system.

See GURPS 4th edition Ultra-Tech for statistics (page references in parentheses).

The following items are issued by Dept. 23 to every Troubleshooter.

  • Nanoweave Bodysuit (TL10). Flexible skin-tight body armor suit worn under clothing. Provides DR 18 against piercing and cutting attacks, DR 6 against all other damage.
  • Small Radio Communicator (TL10). Secure encrypted (Complexity 6) point-to-point audio-visual communication. Interfaces with citywide communications and computer network (CityNet), providing unlimited range and access within City structures. 20-mile range outside city structures. (UT 44)
  • Media:GPAG-25XG.png Tangler Pistol [TL9]. Fires 25mm warhead which releases a mass of sticky weblike polymers which grapple target at ST 15. (UT140)
