XM-GAN-8/001

XM-GAN-8/001 is the official OSI designation for a noncorporeal cosmic xenomorph of extra-dimensional origin that was first located by OSI Division 8 in Cave City, California. Initial attempts to contact the creature failed. Team Zero achieved contact with the creature on 21 May 1965 using an experimental TeslaTech subterranean broadcast array converted to broadcast and receive psionic impulses.

Description

XM-GAN-8/001 claims to have existed on Earth for over 300 million years, and even claims to have been the force that shaped the planet surface, though it experiences time at a different rate and thus these claims may be unreliable or inexact. It is a member of a race of noncorporeal beings, capable of traveling across dimensions, who are fond of "reshaping" physical reality and sometimes acting as "gods" for developing sentient life.

The creature has also stated that sentient races and even civilizations existed on Earth prior to humanity, and it itself is the source of mankind's religious beliefs. It further claims to have removed Earth from normal cosmic spacetime in order to prevent others of its kind from finding the planet. XM-GAN-8/001 also confirmed that Earth has been visited by various extraterrestrials, including others of its kind.

An increase in earthquakes and other seismic disturbance occurring in Southern California since January 1965 has been confirmed as being caused by XM-GAN-8/001. The creature has indicated it knows this, but claims to have as little control over this effect as human do various natural processes of their own. Periods of less activity are due to its requiring long periods of hibernation.

Role in Magic

XM-GAN-8/001 has been confirmed as a mana-producing creature, and is suspected of being the original source of mana on Earth. The extent of the creature's control, if any, over this ability is not known.

Alternate Designations

According to initial contacts with telepathic operators, the entity is referred to as "He Who Is Beneath and Between." This led to the creature being initially nicknamed "HWIBAB" (pronounced "whee-bob") by technicians. This designation has persisted among many associated with the project.
