XM-CPG-4/001 is the official OSI designation for a noncorporeal psionic xenomorph of extra-dimensional origin that was first located by Special Agent Roland Childes in Pasadena, California. The creature was drawn into our dimension in late 1964 by a device known as the Janssen Planescope, which was designed by now-deceased scientist Jakob Jansen.

On 19 May 1965, the Powers Device was successfully used to establish a Gestalt with the creature.

Description

The creature appears as a translucent brain that hovers freely. This has been discovered to be a psionic projection of the creature, based on its interpretation of how our minds perceive an entity of "pure thought." Originally this projection was approximately four to five feet in width, but became much smaller during testing at Papoose Labs, finally reducing to less than three feet in diameter.

Beneath this projected image are two structures which are only visible through hyperspectral imaging. The outer layer consists of a plasma-like energy that is best described as an undulating knot of noodles or strings. At the center of this structure is XM-CPG-4/001 itself, apparently existing in only one physical dimension in our universe. It is incapable of moving itself through three dimensions, and may be relocated freely if kept within a specially designed chamber.

Alternate Designations

Due to its projected appearance, XM-CPG-4/001 is most commonly referred to as "the Brain" or "the Big Brain."
