Nyris
Nyris is a strange, earthlike world in the outer rim of the Uando Galaxy in the Local Void. Nyris is best known for its temple, a place of mystic significance. It is also known for its megafauna, seemingly endless jungles, primitive inhabitants, and for the strange field that blankets the entire world, interfering with electromagnetic technology. This interference renders surface scans and detailed sensor analysis of the planet impossible.
The star system that houses Nyris is also noteworthy for having no other planets, and no Oort cloud. It has a central star, and Nyris. Nyris, itself, rotates with no axial tilt to its plane of orbit, which is, itself, nearly a perfect circle. Thus, Nyris has no seasons. While Nyris has no moon, it is close enough to several supergiant stars that they light the night sky in a dim glow. One star in particular, Avernus, is among the most massive and largest stars in the Uando galaxy, and bathes the night sky in a reddish glow.
The Temple
The Temple at Nyris is used by The Resistance to assess potential recruits. Those who manage the trek across the planet's surface and pass whatever tests they encounter at the temple are able to leave the planet's surface by way of a mystical gate that connects to various other points in the Uando Galaxy. Those who fail live out the remainder of their lives on Nyris.
The origin of the temple is a mystery. No oral traditions among the humans in The Four speaks of the temple's construction. It is thought to be centuries old, but could be far older. Detailed readings have proven impossible, and attempts to retrieve pieces of the temple for testing have been fruitless. It lies deep in the planet's jungle environs, though its exact whereabouts are unknown. Many speculate that it is not stationary.
