Photograph of Ming She-Ju, circa 1925. From Promethean Society archives.

Ming She-Ju was born May 1, 1892, in Guangzhou, China but lived most of his life in San Francisco. He was renowned throughout the occult world as the preeminent clairvoyant of his time.

Ming was aboard a commercial flight from San Francisco to Chicago in 1936 when the aircraft encountered strange turbulence. The plane appeared to break up in mid-air and Ming lost consciousness, feeling as if he was plummeting to his death. Instead of dying, he and eight other passengers awoke in a dense forest. They wandered for several days, surviving on roots and berries, until they were found by Kane, a hunter-tracker from Riverrun.

Ming decided to stay on in Riverrun when the other 1920s people chose to travel elsewhere. He was fortunate to be traveling with gold coins in his money belt, so was able to set himself up nicely in the town. Ming eventually purchased property and built the Blue Lotus Tavern, named in honor of the famous Chinese-American social club of Los Angeles and San Francisco.

On Earth in the 1920s and 1930s, Ming was a rival of Xavier Hellestromme, and counts the Necromancers Guild as well as the Red Hand among his enemies. Ming was known the the Promethean Society, and was considered one of the casualties of the Fire Magic wars of the 1930s. Ming's death was considered by many to be an assassination performed by either the Red Hand or Hellestromme himself.
