Biography

Maxine Thomas was born March 18th, 2039 to Henry and Janine Thomas in Chicago, Illinois. She was a gifted child, learning forming complete sentences at six months and reading her first novel in the first grade. She received top marks through her schooling, though she wasn't the best behaved student.

She took an interest in engineering watching her father work at home. She marveled at the various contraption he would bring home and began helping him and learning some tricks of the trade about the age of ten. She learned quickly, equaling his skill in merely a year, and surpassing him in two. Henry grew to resent her for her careless attitude and quick mind, and often blamed her for his lack of success.

Janine Thomas disappeared about this time as well. Shortly before her disappearance, Maxine had revealed her electrokinetic abilities to her mother. It was at this time Janine revealed her own photorefractive abilities, able to turn invisible on the spot. Maxine likes to believe her mother is still there, watching, just invisible to her eye. However, with the recent attacks she knows that, in reality, it’s just not true.

Maxine herself grew into her teen years and put most work behind her in favor of fun and adventure. Though she retained her ability to churn out marvelous inventions at almost a moment’s notice, she was more interested in partying, boys, and fitting in. Her father took this opportunity to steal one of these gadgets, and eventually gained a small amount of fame for the discovery. Maxine didn’t care though it certainly didn’t improve their relationship, and the two have been strained ever since.

When Maxine turned 15 her father was promoted to working on Thaumus IV and when the aliens attacked that’s where they lived. With most of her work destroyed and her familial relationships almost non-existent she has spent this time re-working and re-imagining. Her current prized possession is an invisibility suit she invented in honor of her mother. It has proven to be quite an asset, and Maxine has dedicated her life to improving and modifying the suit until she, too, can achieve true invisibility.
