Summary of available information regarding the planes of existence.

The State of the Planes

  • Around the 25th century of Earth’s time, something happened that devastated the prime material plane and caused the destruction of multiple Earth parallels.
  • Resulting reality quakes dislocated several parallel realities, eventually establishing an unstable mega-plane consisting of a jumble of surviving planes superimposed on one another. Random, inconsistent shifting of planes and realities caused the near-total destruction of human galactic civilization.
  • After 10 centuries of this chaos, a group of powerful individuals decided to stabilize reality and restore human civilization throughout the galaxy.

The Known Planes of Existence

Abyssal Plane. Where demons and other destructive forces originate and exist. Interacts with Ethereal Plane.

Dreamlands. Where subconscious dreams exist. Oversight and interaction over all planes except Superior Plane.

Ethereal Plane. Where ghosts and other spiritual entities exist. Interacts with Material Plane.

Immaterial Plane. Where creations of the imagination exist, though they originate in the mind of intelligent creatures from the Material Plane. No other planar interaction.

Material Plane. Where consensus physical reality for humans exists. Interacts with Ethereal Plane.

Superior Plane. Where godlike beings exist and live. Oversight and limited interaction over all planes except Dreamlands.

Temporal Plane. Theoretical plane where physical travel can result in time travel. Also proposed as planar explanation of hyperspace travel.

Earth Parallels exist on the Material Plane, though they may have been created on the Ethereal or Immaterial Planes.
