Emily Brandeis

Emily Brandeis knew Emilio Gonzago in college. They dated and lived together, off and on, for several years throught the 1980s and 1990s. Senior year they both worked on a project with Professor Nikos Poluketes. Their relationship after college was sporadic, mostly due to Gonzago’s frequent travels and work on several projects, both corporate and government. They were living together in 2001 when Tangerine had his abduction experience. Gonzago went to Mexico to retrieve his friend, but did not return for several months.

It was during this time that Emily was contacted by the 88 and recruited into the 33rd Path. When Gonzago returned she told him she had decided to live alone and devoted herself to her work. She spent the majority of her time at Path Headquarters, learning the extent of the reach and power of the 88. In 2005 her superiors inducted her into the ranks of the 88, making her the leader of the 33rd Path.

Emily owns a number of TL8 and even TL9 devices. She is a bit of a gadget hound. Her office and apartment are cluttered with various phones, radios, and other electronics.

Emily carries a palm-sized advanced protection system known as a psionic crystal. This device creates a powerful energy field around Emily. The field extends for 2 inches above the surface of Emily’s skin and extends with her reach. Contact with the field causes a severe electrical shock and confusion for 1d6 seconds. The device is activated when gripped in the hand.

Emily’s briefcase

The briefcase is made of a virtually impermeable alloy (TL8+). It can only be opened by individuals whose DNA signatures are registered with the briefcase security system. Touching the briefcase activates the security system. If the DNA of the toucher is registered, the briefcase is not locked. The DNA is not registered, the briefcase is locked and cannot be opened. Opened, the briefcase features an elaborate control panel in the top portion. This panel controls the portal in Room 88, as well as any other registered translocation device. The panel also features an interface for connecting with 11, the internal security officer of the 88. There may be many other features of the complex control panel.

Emily as Patron

Emily is a powerful individual, but she is rarely available (6 or less), intervenes minimally and is secret. However, she often provides useful equipment and has access to TL9 technology.
