Founded in 1927, Troubleshooters, Inc. was the first paranormal investigative agency licensed by the City of Los Angeles. The group began operations in a garage on Fairfax Avenue, later moving to an old firehouse downtown.

By 1936 Troubleshooters was the only paranormal investigative agency still in activity, though its owners had branched out into other businesses when the decline in supernatural activity since the Fire Magic Wars resulted in less income from ghost hunting and exorcisms.
