The Children of Light are the pilots of the Lewis Spheres, and serve as the frontline in the interstellar war against The Enemy and its Eggs. The Children of Light are genetically engineered and bred to serve as interstellar pilots in a program overseen by the Shiva Space Technology division at the Tower of Light. Each of the Children of Light is bred alongside a genetically-modified ayahuasca vine, which is then incorporated as a biocomputer into the Lewis Sphere assigned to that child. Each Lewis Sphere is keyed to a specific pilot via this psionic-symbiotic relationship between the pilot and vine.

The specific breeding location of the Children of Light and their associated ayahuasca vines is undisclosed.
