Aurora Station is the primary Federation outpost in Aurora Sector, the far frontier of Federation space. Located 14,000 light years from the center of the galaxy and over 11,000 light years from Earth, Aurora is a J-class starbase hosting some of the foremost researchers and explorers in the galaxy. The station occupies a geocentric orbit around the third planet of the Aurora star system, where the Aurora colony was founded in 2223.

The Aurora system also hosts two G-class starbases, each of which is dedicated to Starfleet operations. These stations are in synchronous orbit at L1 and L2 over the fourth planet, known as Tithonus. Aurora Facility 1 (also known as Tithonus 1) is dedicated to Starfleet operations and command in this sector. Aurora Facility 2 is dedicated to engineering and support services, and also includes a fully-operational starship repair and refit facility. (Note: Facility 2 is scheduled for completion and full operation in June 2237.)

As part of the Federation-mandated “push to the core,” several Starfleet vessels have been assigned to duty at Aurora Station. Many of these ships will be journeying into the unexplored regions near the core of the galaxy. Others will patrol the immediate sector and provide security for the starbase. In the coming years, provided habitable worlds are located, colony ships will begin arriving at Aurora. The facility is destined to be a primary hub of activity and growth in this sector for decades to come.

Station Facilities

  • Starbase Commander: Commodore Laura Petri
  • Office of the Concierge: Nero Gygax
  • Chief of Security: Commander Nevil Chandra

With operations scheduled to begin in March 2237, Starbase Aurora endeavors to provide a variety of facilities for the use of both civilian and Starfleet personnel, a well as the numerous visitors expected at the station in the coming years. This memo attempts to outline those services and provide guidelines for their use.

While the starbase hopes to be a good home, it is primarily a place of research. In order to provide for the needs of inhabitants as well as efficient operations, civilian areas will be located in the upper decks of the station. Residence quarters for visitors and other civilian inhabitants are located on Decks 4, 5, 6, and 8. Stores offering the basic necessities such as food and clothing may be found on Deck 3. Educational facilities, as well as a movie theater, are located on Deck 2. Deck 1 is the observation deck, offering excellent panoramic views of the Aurora system.

Civilian visitors and inhabitants are asked to confine their movement and activities to those areas designated for their use. Other areas of the station, dedicated to scientific research and station operations, are to be considered restricted and off-limits.
