Years ago, a traveling monk named Wei Jieming came to the Zhuang lands. During this time, a skirmish with members of a neighboring tribe broke out, and Wei Jieming helped the Zhuang repel the aggressors. He used a style alien to the Zhuang, but his technique captured the imagination of some of the local warriors. They insisted that he teach them his style. He agreed, provided the warriors helped him build a monastery high in the mountains south of the Zhuang lands, near the border with the wild lands to the south. The warriors helped him, and he taught the Zhuang his techniques. The monastery stands to this day, hidden in the mountains to the south and, to this day, Zhuang who wish to learn the old monk's style are welcome to learn, provided they bring with them rice from the most recent harvest and stay at the monastery for five years. While Wei Jieming's exact origins are unknown, it is thought that he was a monk in the Imperial territory to the northeast prior to his arrival in Zhuang lands. It is said that his style came from an ancient monastery somewhere in the Imperial lands far to the north, in a remote mountain area. Monks and warriors will occasionally still travel from afar to visit the monastery to the south and learn the Southern Mountain style.
