She was captured by bandits in the winter of 720 and subsequently freed from captivity when Lord [[Ishimaru Katsurou]] led a small expedition against the bandit encampment. As thanks for freeing her from captivity and helping her and her fellow Ainu captives get to safety, Ioun served as a scout and guide for Hibiki, the head servant of the Ishimaru household, until Hibiki's demise in a battle against forces of the [[Iron Hand]].
