Ishimaru Hisaka is the wife of Lord Ishimaru Katsurou. She is originally from Sakurai, in the Yamato Province of Southern Japan, and is from the Sakurai Fujiwara Clan, itself an offshoot of the Southern Fujiwara Clan, a dominant force in Imperial Japanese politics. She is known to be beautiful, intelligent, and a skilled artist.
In the spring of 721, she was briefly held hostage by Lord Nakamura Reizo in his mountain fortress.
